OTHER RESOURCES
Through my journey of supporting, then losing Katie, I have come to meet many people who have suffered a similar loss or who continue to support those who are struggling. These include family members as well as professionals - including social workers and other front-line practitioners.
Included below are some other resources related to substance use and mental illness as well as those we have lost.

"WE WERE HERE" Project
Mary Breen is a Toronto based author who has developed a series of short stories called "WE WERE HERE". Each tells the story of someone whose life was cut short by fentanyl. None made it past 30, some didn’t make it to adulthood. These young people were kind, talented, funny, smart… and they should still be here. This project remembers and honours them, and raises questions about the ripple effect of so much loss on this and future generations. International ACT Conference 2024, Ontario
In September 2024 I had the opportunity to speak alongside other family members at the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Conference that brought together psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and many other front-line practitioners to network and learn more about supporting those with severe mental illness and concurrent disorders.
