OTHER RESOURCES
Through my journey of supporting, then losing Katie, I have come to meet many people who have suffered a similar loss or who continue to support those who are struggling. These include family members as well as professionals - including social workers and other front-line practitioners.
Included below are some other resources related to substance use and mental illness as well as those we have lost.

"WE WERE HERE" Project
Mary Breen is a Toronto based author who is currently working on a project called "WE WERE HERE". She has been collecting stories of young people in Ontario who have died in the current opioid crisis and is an extension of all the writing she has done since her own daughter Sophie was killed by fentanyl in 2020. The emphasis of this project is on the lives these young people lived – however brief, and the generation we have unnecessarily lost too soon. International ACT Conference 2024, Ontario
In September this year (2024) I had the opportunity to speak alongside other family members at the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Conference that brought together psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and many other front-line practitioners to network and learn more about supporting those with severe mental illness and concurrent disorders.
